Painting Tips 3

I proceed to paint in the rest of the Angel Fish. From here, I will stand back and look at the painting, and I can see that I need something in the upper part of the painting to balance it off. I start with the depth, and work myself forward to achieve this , I blocked in my fish with dark colors with no detail to give  that far away look.

I repeat the same white block out technique I described earlier on my close up fish and will go back and bring them to life with a mixture of color.

Once I have determined I have achieved the look and balance I'm after, I will go back and put water movement and bubbles around the Turtles and the fish. I do this with a small stiff round flat bottom brush and a tapping technique. I give the painting one final look, and determine I'm done !!!!!

Keep in mind, this is just a general description on the process I used for this painting. In future newsletters I will go into more detail about each one of these steps, the techniques and type of brushes that are used.

"Good luck on your next Painting"
